(excl. Dec. and Jan.) from 1.00pm at the Tinbeerwah Hall, 863 Sunrise Rd, Tinbeerwah

Monthly meetings

Our monthly meeting is held on the first Saturday of the month (excl. Dec. and Jan.) at the Tinbeerwah Hall from 1:00p.m. Plants must be benched before 12.40pm. We look forward to welcoming you to discover the amazing orchid and foliage world.

Everyone is welcome to attend a meeting and discover the wonderful world of orchids and foilage –  no experience in growing or knowledge is required.

The aim of the NDOFS is to promote interest in the conservation, cultivation, knowledge and breeding of orchids and other foliage plants including indigenous, exotic species and hybrids. Joining the local orchid society is a great way to learn about orchids and foliage and how to grow them.

Our Spring show held 13-14 September 2024

Our 2024 Spring Show celebrated 40 years since the NDO&FS was founded and attracted a record number of entries from orchid societies around the Sunshine Coast with the many tables bursting with spectacular flowers and foliage. Visitors queued for the opening morning and arrived steadily on both days with final numbers expected to also set a new record.

Our new ‘hands-on’ orchid potting workshops which allowed visitors to choose and pot-up an orchid to take home for just $10 was very popular. Raffle ticket and orchid sales were successful with the first day nearly clearing our sales area and more orchids brought in for the second day.

Our Mother’s Day show held 10-11 May 2024

Congratulations to our show champions and those who benched plants and volunteered to help make the 2024 Mother’s Day show a success. Being in a larger hall than previously was not a problem as the orchids were plentiful and the foliage section was huge. Business was steady both days with a regular stream of people coming in to admire the orchids, buy raffle tickets, enjoy a coffee and cake and leave with a plant, or several. Learning to pot an orchid was a successful new addition to the show and will help demystify orchid growing and bring in new members.
